WordPress Tutorials – How to Import Your Blogger Posts
Although it has become rather more sophisticated with more recent updates, Google's Blogger software still does not even come close to WordPress in terms of functionality and features. For this reason, WordPress is favoured among professionals and personal users alike and it is not much more complicated to use either, if at all. Most people use Blogger for creating a free blog hosted at their own Google subdomain. While this is perfectly adequate for meeting the needs of most home users, WordPress is preferable for those who want to monetize their blog and take advantage of a far wider range of features and plugins. Fortunately, WordPress provides features which make it easy to migrate from one blogging platform to the other.
First, log in to your WordPress dashboard and move the mouse over the “Tools” button on the sidebar. Click “Import.” On this page, you will be provided with a list of various import options supported by WordPress. Click “Blogger” to continue. A window will pop up displaying the installation page for the plugin you need for importing Blogger posts and other data. Click “Install Now.” WordPress will install the latest version of the plugin. The process should normally only take a few seconds. When it is complete, click the link “Activate Plugin and Run Importer.”
You will now need to give WordPress permission to access your Blogger account. Click “Authorize” to continue and then click “Grant Access.” WordPress is now able to access your Blogger account and you are now ready to start importing posts from it.
To start importing posts from Blogger, simply click the button “Import” beside the name of the post. You can then click “Set Author” to specify the name of the author of the post, since this type of information will be lost during the import process. When you have finished importing your posts, you can stop WordPress from accessing your Blogger account by clicking “Clear Account Information.”
